*Anodizing is an electrolytic process that puts a very thin colorless film of tantalum oxide on the tantalum inlay strip. This is not like aluminum anodizing which uses dyes/pigments to achieve the color.  As the thickness of the film changes various colors appear. While the film is very hard, it is also very thin and over time the tantalum oxide will slowly abrade away and the tantalum will return to its natural blue-gray color (this usually take 2–10 years). A new anodized strip can replace the old one, but there is a charge for (in 2015 it's $175). Also, the colors need not be a "rainbow", any one color, or adjacent colors can be selected. There is a bit a variation in exact colors acheived—no two rings are ever exactly alike.  Please contact us if you any questions about this before you purchase.

Of course, it can be done in other band colors with the inlay metal of your choice—see below.

Note: Inlay metal, and ring size are selected on the order form which follows.

About Ordering:

  • To get the correct ring size go to any well thought of jeweler in your area and ask to have your finger sized with a 5–7mm wide sizer. Don't be embarrassed, this is a very common request, and should be a free service. Repeat the process with another jeweler to verify the size if possible. Or, if you have a ring of 5–7 mm (ca. 1/4") width that fits you well, take it to a jeweler and ask if they would tell you its size. And if neither works for you, we'll be happy to mail you a set of ring sizers. See also Ring Sizing.
  • Ring sizes greater than size 11, or less than size 4 may be priced slightly higher or lower than indicated. We will promptly advise you as to the price.
  • Each ring is custom made to your specifications. After casting your ring, we usually send the semi-finished ring to you for a fitting (inlay will not be in place). We want the ring to fit you well. You tell us if it's a good fit or needs a tweak, and then return the ring to us for completion. It typically takes about two to three weeks, not counting shipping, from the placement of an order to complete your order. If you'd care to visit us in New Mexico, we can often complete a ring in about one week (except platinum rings).
  • On receipt of your order we will send you a confirmation, and, if needed, further information about your order.
  • If you have any questions, or special requests, please feel free to contact us—we will respond promptly.
