In l980, Joseph Hall, the founder of The Ringworks Studio, published one of the first papers in the United States on the coloring and use of titanium and related metals (tantalum, niobium, hafnium, etc.—the "refractory" metals) in jewelry. He has a Master of Fine Arts degree for the University of Washington. Joseph has been a Distinguished Member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG), has received Ford Foundation awards, and has taught and lectured at colleges and universities throughout the United States. He also has degrees in science (BS), and urban planning (MS). Like Teresa, he has a deep interest in sustainable architecture.
Teresa is one of the two founders of The Ringworks Studio. In addition to being the operating manager, and a designer for the studio, she is a fabric artist specializing in modern quilt design. She is also the founder of a group dealing with sustainability issues in contemporary housing design.
